Hello Mimi!
I always loved giving concerts inspired by the seasons. I actually have 4 whole themed programmes that contain some wonderful music.
I’ve lived in the South of Spain for the last 7 years, where the seasons don’t look much different from one another. It’s mostly blue skies and the sun shining, lots of plants in full bloom over winter, lots of evergreens. The fruit and and the temperatures do change, the light does as well, but not much more than that, and I must confess, I do miss the seasons sometimes, as they are further North. Autumn, with all those amazing colours, the rain, the mist… I always thought that was magical.
And what is also magical is, when composers capture the atmosphere of a season in their music. Let me know if you want any suggestions for season-related songs!
One of my favourite autumn songs is Die Georgine (The Dahlia) by Richard Strauss
Today I stumbled upon the recording of a rehearsal that I did many years ago, when I first prepared this song for concerts. I just uploaded it, unedited ππ so I can share it with you.
Are you learning some new songs or arias right now? I’d love to hear!
Take care, be happy, and sing with all of your heart π§‘πΌπΆπ
