How many times have we all heard that?
It’s time to bust the starving artist stereotype! As an artist, you are an entrepreneur, and your art is your business.
It’s crucial that you shift your mindset from victim mode to creator mode.
It’s all about taking responsibility for you life. Your life is made of your art, your health, your relationships, your finances, your spiritual life, your interests, and your career.
Now they have you believe that your art, which might well be your calling, is not meant to be the same as your career⁉️
When you become an artist, you don’t get to learn anything about the business side of it, as if being an artist was meant to be a hobby for everyone, or if artists didn’t need to eat and pay their bills.
Please have a cool, analytical look at this. There are all these huge, paralysing misconceptions out there, around art and money.
You might have a profession you love, and want to sing in your spare time, and that’s great!
But if you dream of being a professional, here’s the Oxford Dictionary definition of a professional: a person engaged in a specified activity as a main PAID occupation rather than as a pastime.
You don’t necessarily need to accept that “that’s the way it is”.
There are as many ways as there are humans on this planet. Go your own way!
And let me know if you need help with this.
