A Complete Practical Guide to Opera Singing
Welcome to my complete practical guide to opera singing. As a classical singer, you need a really clear, totally reliable technique. One that is guaranteed to work, because you need to deliver many precisely measurable things, your notes must have a certain height, length, and volume if you are to enjoy it, be heard, and be taken seriously.
There’s no amplification and you cannot reduce the range of your pieces. You can – and must of course! – choose what you sing very carefully, but even if the things you choose are appropriate for your voice, there still are many objective requirements that have to be met. We all need to train until we attain the ability first, then the stamina and then the consistency it takes to perform the classical repertoire…
I really love the human voice, I love helping people discover and develop their own voice, and that’s why I created exactly the method that would have saved me a huge amount of money and many years’ worth of fretting and doubting and stressing out, had I had access to it when I was studying. Not only do I remember my path from zero to pro very well, but also, I have helped many opera singers of all ages and all levels over the last fifteen years and I know how it feels and what we all need in order to be able to unfold our potential.

“Simona is, first of all, a beautiful person who makes you feel totally at ease in the exposed situation of a singing class.
She shares her experience in singing technique, musicality, interpretation, meaning, and diction, with great generosity.
She gave me the confidence I needed to tackle some repertoire I believed was unattainable for me”
Inma López, soprano, Malaga (Spain)

“The aim of the courses Ms Mango gave at Canto Classico from 2010 to 2014 was the acquisition of good posture, correct diaphragmatic breathing technique, correct vocal emission and resonance, articulation of vowels and consonants, and vowel alignment. All of this led to the development of a full sound, increased power and to her students feeling good about their voice.
Ms Mango fulfilled these demanding tasks with great competence, engagement and passion. She was able to pass on the principles of the Belcanto technique to her groups through very clear explanations and, especially, by example. With her extremely motivational and positive way of tackling problems she managed to get her students fired up about their singing, and to make them lose any apprehension. She went about it in a relaxed way, with great patience and real empathy with her students, giving everyone what they needed so the whole group could meet on common ground.”
Willi Derungs, Director of Canto Classico Concert Choir Bern (Switzerland)

“Simona is not only a flawless and beautiful singer and interpreter – a model to follow for any classical singer -, as a teacher and singing coach she is devoted to her students, always making sure her teachings get across, explaining in as many ways as needed to ensure her students comprehend. Simona helps her students feel confident in themselves; her teaching is always positive and constructive and she works close to each student in a heartfelt teacher-student relation. Needles to say, she is also absolutely professional and reliable. After almost 10 years of looking for the right singing coach for me, in Simona I found exactly what I was looking for.”
